Wroxham holidays, Wroxham, Norfolk
Two 2-bedroom luxury cottages on the Peninsula marina in the heart of Wroxham, Capital of the Norfolk Broads

Wroxham is often called the "Capital of the Norfolk Broads” and along with Hoveton (across the bridge), became the first centre on the Broads for boating holidays and excursions from the late nineteenth century when expansion of the rail network had made access to the area easier. The East Norfolk Railway arrived in Wroxham and Hoveton between 1874 and 1876 and prints of the advertising posters are displayed on the staircase in Wherry Cottage.  John Loynes started the first boat hire firm on the Broads at Wroxham where he moved the business he had started in Norwich in 1878. The original company sign can be seen as you walk around the marina to what is now Norfolk Broads Direct that offer sightseeing boat tours.  Wroxham has become quite commercialised over the years with pubs, hotels, tea rooms and gift shops springing up near the river to attract holiday makers, and several boat yards offering day and picnic boat hire.  For more about Wroxham click here

The Peninsula Cottages were built in the 1980’s  as a purpose-built holiday cottage complex, by Moore’s boatyard who owned the Peninsula Marina. These are now all in private ownership and have been modernised and while some are kept as private second homes others are let for part or all of the year.  Wherry Cottage is available to hire all year.  The Peninsula marina is now used by privately owned yachts and cruisers. Wherry cottage enjoys parking for a second car free (by prior arrangement).
